Sitges Markets

There are a few different markets in Sitges, the covered municipal daily market near the train station; a weekly street market on Thursdays; a produce market in Poble Sec and a ‘Hippy Market’ open on weekends.

Sitges markets are quite traditional, and offer an interesting insight into local traditions, tastes and produce, with many of the vegetables, fruit and meat sourced locally.

Sitges Covered Market

The main municipal market is centrally located to the left of the main train station exit. Built just a few years ago the ‘Mercat d’Sitges’ is a clean, light and air-conditioned covered arcade where you can pick up most daily essentials.

Open every day except Sunday, the market has a range of stalls mostly selling food and domestic goods, with a florists, cobbler / key cutter, newsagent and a couple of restaurant / cafes. From the entrance closest to Sitges railway station there is a small gallery of shops including an artisan jewellers; a clothes store; tailors, baker, travel agent and estate agency.

With some of the best butchers, delicatessens and fishmongers and greengrocers in the area, the market is worth a visit and is conveniently located above a Mercadona supermarket, and below the central town multi-storey carpark. Supermarket, carpark and market are all connected by lift, and carpark tickets can be validated for supermarket shoppers.

We also recommend the main café / restaurant either for a coffee or a very reasonably priced ‘menu del dia’ – freshly cooked to order from seasonal ingredients!

Sitges Market Opening Hours:

– 08:30 – 14:30 Monday – Saturday

17:30 – 20:30 Late Night Tuesday Thursday & Friday

The market is fully accessible for wheelchairs, and has public and wheelchair accessible toilets.

Weekly Street Markets

Sitges shoppingThursday Market

The largest Sitges weekly market is held on Thursday on Paseo de Vilafranca (next to Can Robert Park entrance, near the Airport busstop)

There are around 30 stalls selling fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes and some other basics.

The market sets up early in the morning, but only gets busy from around 08:00 Stall holders start packing up around 13:00

Saturday Vegetable Market

The small vegetable market in Poble Sec is held Saturday mornings in Plaça de Catalunya, with around 10 stalls selling a variety of local seasonal produce. Frequented almost exclusively by residents from the neighbourhood it lacks any real atmosphere – although the fruit and veg is cheap and good!Saturday Market, Poble Sec Sitges

The ‘Hippy’ Market

Sitges ‘Hippy Market’ (Feria Hippie) is normally located to the right of San Sebastian beach, but renovation on the buildings has displaced stalls to the main boulevard on the other side of the church near Hotel Calipolis.

Here you will find a range of artisan and beach jewellery, clothes, sarongs, tie-dyes and other hand-made items. Nice people – worth a browse!
